1. Shots: Action films use a mixture of close ups and medium shots. They often have to use dynamic shots to follow the action wether it be a car chase or fight scene. As you intro features a lot of dialogue we won't use dynamic shots but a mix of medium and close up shots.

2. Editing and film techniques: Action films feature a lot of edits which are fast to cover the pace of the action. They use shot reverse shot to cover the dialogue and match on action for action scenes.

3. My favourite action films are Guardians of the galaxy, Batman trilogy, Kingsman and Star Wars (which is partly sci-fi)

4. These films play on a main protagonist who generally is an average guy who becomes the hero as the story progresses. This happens through overcoming tough obstacles, metting enemies or forming a team with other heroes. This is a narrative technique of action films.

6. Functions of film openings: Action films often will drop you straight into the deep end which is a frantic action scene. This will either show the main protagonist or antagonist at work. This will introduce us to the characters either through small amounts of dialogue or the action itself; this is the function of the opening. Another function is to entice the audience to keep watching, this is done through the introduction of a narrative hook, this could be a treasured object, a captured friend who need to be saved and many more.
