     • A reflection on genocide and man's universal capacity for cuelty

2. Akram Khan

   • Zero Degrees
     • Explores Larbi and Khan's dual identifies and themes of identity, spirituality and cultural diversity
     • A great example of embracing cultural differences and collaboration between choreographers
   • Inspired by Anne Maria De Keersmaeker, his works explore his personal dual nationality and his blend between contemporary and kathak movement

3. Matthew Bourne

   • CarMan
     • Strong narrative of a 1960s thriller storyline, set in a car garage
     • Explores themes of passion, love, lust and humour through interaction with the set as well as clear linking gestures
     • A great example of pedestrian gestures and a multi-disciplinary approach
   • The Nutcracker!
     • Gobstopper motif and Marshmallow girls motif
     • The traditional story is retold with a playful, fantasy feel
     • Explores an exaggerated use of gestures through a blend of balletic and contemporary movement within an elaborate and colourful set
     • A great example of new forms of staging as well as eclecticism
   • Swan Lake
     • Explores the more aggressive and violent side of birds, with the movement presenting them as ferocious creatures
     • Dance of the cygnets and the Final Scene
     • A great example of Bourne's aim to encourage young boys to take up dancing and having a traditional approach to music
   • Being a stage-door regular with an interest in theatre, Bourne's work aims to reflect clear narratives using extravagant set design
