Super Smash Bros Algorithm
prescribed criteria
- Develop an Algorithm using Pseudocode conventions (needs more info)
- Develop an algorithm for one of the Nintendo games – Super Smash Bros or Mario Kart
- Pseudocodes conventions must be used in the algorithm. Such as all keywords are in all capitals and bold, use indentation when a code belongs to a particular block of code, START and END should be at the beginning and the end of the algorithm.
- Example keywords for pseudocode are IF/IF ELSE, IS EQUAL, TO, START, END, THEN, WHILE and ELSIF.
- Super Smash Bros
- Develop an ultimate high damage finishing offensive strategy to eliminate the opponent
- For Super Smash Bros create a high damage strategy.
- The strategy should be offensive which means that we do not need to create any defensive moves.
- The moves should ultimately eliminates the opponent.
- Use five (5) conditions (IF, ELSEIF, ELSE) in your pseudocode
- Use at least five different attack moves (Side Special Move, Final Smash, Down Special Move, etc)
- The pseudocodes must include 5 unique moves to damage the opponent using IF, ELIF and ELSE
- Example offensive moves of Mario Airplane swing- 11% damage Meteor knuckle- 12% damage Edge attack- 9% damage Lead headbutt- 14% damage Fire Palm Heel- 17.8% damage

algorithm constructs
- sequence
- A sequence is a set of instructions followed by a computer in a precise, step by step order from top to bottom to complete a task.
- e.g. sequence for Final Smash: uppercut, kick, punch, smash
- A sequence is a set of instructions followed by a computer in a precise, step by step order from top to bottom to complete a task.
- assignment
- An assignment is giving a variable (a named storage space) a specific value for the computer to remember.
- e.g. DECLARE character name SET character name TO Mario
- An assignment is giving a variable (a named storage space) a specific value for the computer to remember.
- condition
- A condition is a statement or question that the computer evaluates as either True or False to decide what to do next.
- e.g. IF distance > 10. Here the condition is that the distance must be greater than 10 for the next step to follow
- A condition is a statement or question that the computer evaluates as either True or False to decide what to do next.
- selection
- A selection statement is a programming instruction that allows a computer to choose between different paths of action based on whether a condition is True or False.
- e.g. THEN move backwards. In this example, if the distance is greater than 10, then the character moves backwards. This is the selection made by the program
- A selection statement is a programming instruction that allows a computer to choose between different paths of action based on whether a condition is True or False.
- iteration
- Iteration is repeating a block of code using a loop to make programs shorter and more efficient. Its three types are count-controlled (repeats a fixed number of times), condition-controlled (repeats only while a specific rule is True), and infinite (repeats forever without stopping).
- In this example, the iteration is a count-controlled loop that forces the character to repeat the action of jumping over an enemy exactly ten separate times. - sequence
Chosen Character moves- Mario
- Edge Attack; climbs up from the ledge and drops kicks forward to hit nearby enemies for 9% damage
- Lead headbutt: swings an upward headbutt from back to front, making his head invincible to safely blast enemies away for 14% damage.
- Meteor knuckle: swings an overhand punch mid-air to slam enemies straight down for 12% damage.
- Airplane Swing: grabs enemy legs, spins them in a circle, and tosses them away for 11% damage.
- Fire Palm Heel: steps forward and unleashes an explosive palm strike to blast opponents away for 17.8% damage
Character Choices
- Mario
- Pros
- Great combos: He can hit opponents multiple times in a row very easily to get quick damage.
- Fast moves: His attacks start and finish quickly, making it hard for opponents to hit him first.
- Good fireball: His fireball projectile helps him control the screen and force enemies to move.
- cons
- Short reach: He has stubby arms and legs, so he struggles to hit characters who use long swords.
- Predictable recovery: His jump move to get back onto the stage goes in a straight line, making him easy to hit off the map.
- why i chose these characters
- Mario is an iconic character that everybody knows and it would be fun to do him
- I chose Toad because his character is cute, unique looking and is a fun character
- Pros
- toad
- Pros
- Fast running speed: He can sprint across the stage much quicker than most other characters.
- Hard to hit: His very small body size makes it easy for him to duck under enemy attacks.
- cons
- Bad jumps: He has very weak leg power and cannot jump high, making it hard to chase enemies into the air.
- Pros
- Mario
Super Smash Bros Game
- Super Smash Bros. is a popular fighting game series made by Nintendo where video game characters fight to knock each other off the screen.
- it can be multiplayer and singleplayer
- Every player starts at 0%. As a character takes damage, their percentage increases.
hardware
- screen
- A screen is an electronic display that shows images, text, and videos from your Nintendo Switch console.
- joycon remote
- A Joy-Con remote is a small, wireless controller used to play games on the Nintendo Switch.
- joycon holder
- A Joy-Con holder is a plastic accessory that merges two separate Nintendo Switch controllers into a single gamepad.
- Nintendo Switch
- The Nintendo Switch is a hybrid video game console that can be played both on a TV at home and as a portable device on the go.
- SSB game card or downloaded game
- A Super Smash Bros. game card is a physical cartridge you insert into the console, while a downloaded game is a digital file saved directly onto the system's memory.
