Resumen del Recurso

REPRODUCTION
  1. SEXUAL
    1. The joining(fusion) of male and female gametes causing mixture of genetic material so variety in the offspring.
    2. ASEXUAL
      1. No fusion, only one parent ther is no mix of genetic information so offspring contains no variation and offspring is genetically identical so a clone.
      2. GENETIC ENGINEERING (GENE MANIPULATION)
        1. Genes from chromosomes can be 'cut out' using enzymes and transferred to cells in other organisms.
          1. Genes can also be transferred into plants, animals or microrganisms as they start to develop so they grow with desired characteristics for example crops.
            1. crops with modified genes are called genetically modified crops (GM crops)
              1. Gm crops could be resistant to insect attack or herbicides(weed killers)
                1. GM crops generally show increased yields
                  1. Concerns about GM crops include effects on wild flowers and wildlife also uncertainty about the effects of eating GM crops on human health
