    2. The Arab Solution
      1. Kuwait sought help from the Arab League
        1. Kuwait appealed for the Arab League to organise a joint force against Iraq by condemning its actions
          1. Arab League called for a voting for the Iraq withdrawal from Kuwait
            1. This vote only passed by a slim margin as the League members were divided in opinion
              1. The Arab nations did not seek help from Western powers for their fear of the western imperialism
      2. American Response
        1. Saudi Arabia sought help from USA
          1. USA sent soldiers, navy ships and planes in defense of Saudi Arabia through Operation Desert shield
            1. Britian, France, and more than 30 other countries took part in the coalition to aid USA's actions both military and economically
        2. International Response
          1. The UN passed a resolution to demand for Iraq's immediate withdrawal from Kuwait
            1. UN also called for immediate intensive negotiations between Iraq and Kuwait to search for solutions for their problems
              1. Iraq and Kuwait assets were frozen to prevent Iraq from making use of these funds to wage war
                1. Economic and military sanctions were imposed on Iraq
                  1. Iraq was unable to earn income through oil sales. It was also unable to import goods from other nations except for food and essential medical goods
                    1. These sanctions should give Iraq a significant blow as more than 90% of Iraq goods came from importations
