Resumen del Recurso

Heart
  1. How the heart is adapted to its function
    1. Valves ensure that blood can only flow in one direction through the heart
      1. The walls of the atria are thin.
        1. They can be stretched to receive blood as it returns to the heart
          1. They can contract with enough force to push blood through the atrioventricular valves
          2. The walls of the heart are made up of cardiac muscle
            1. The cardiac muscle has its own blood supply

              Adjunto:

          3. The heart normally beats at 70 bpm
            1. This can change through exercise
            2. The medulla controls the changes in heart rate
              1. The Right ventricle only pumps to the lungs
