1. What is Multiplexing ? set of technique that allow the simultaneous transmission of multiple signal data link.

2. frequency-division multiplexing (FDM)

   • - analog technique
   • - bandwidth link > bandwidth signal combined
   • Analog Hierarchy
     • use to minimize the efficiency
   • channel must be separated by guard band to prevent signal overlapping

3. Wave-division Multiplexing (WDM)

   • -desinged to use the high data rate capability of Fiber Optic cable.
   • involve optical signals (lights)
   • DWDM (dense WDM) - can multiple a very large nmber of channel by spacing channels closer to each other.

4. Time-division multiplexing (TDM)

   • -is a digital techique
   • applied when data rate of trasmission medium > data rate required by sender & receiver devices

9. Inverse Multiplexing

   • takes the data stream from high speed line to lower speed line.
