1. We are looking for differences

2. interval and ratio data ideally but we can also use ordinal data

3. I am doing independent groups - two seperate groups

4. The data is non-parametric

5. One sample Wilcoxon signed rank test is a non-parametric alternative method of one sample t-test, which is used to test whether the location (MEDIAN) of the measurement is equal to a specified value

   • looks at the measures of central tendency and compares it with the target
   • The difference with the one sample t-test and one sample Wilcoxon signed rank test is that it looks at the median

6. spss generates a p-value for us however, as always, in order to reject the null hypothesis this value needs to be less than 0.05

7. Only need the p-value for the one sample Wilcoxon signed rank test
