Animal Testing

Animal Testing

1. Roman Catholics

   • Medical Testing is tolerable as animals do not have souls and can have no special relationship with God
   • Humanity is superior over animals are we were special in God's creation.
     • On the sixth day he made man.. to rule over the creation...
   • Happy to eat meat, therefore is there any difference in testing on animals considering they are very similar
   • As long as animals don't suffer any more than need be it is acceptable.

2. Other christians

   • Abusing God's creation is abusing God
     • Created in the image of God
   • God is not indifferent to anything in his creation
   • Treating animals with no respect shows we are misusing our responsibility to rule over the animals
     • Rule over the fishes of the sea and the birds in the sky
   • There are other means for testing nowadays (computer simulation) so it's unnecessary.

3. Personal Veiwpoint

   • Animal testing is fine but ONLY for medical use
     • Anything such as cosmetics is unnecessary because i believe animals have emotions
   • If there are other commercial ways of testing use them instead
     • But it has to be reliable otherwise it will not benefit humanity

4. Definitions

   • Cloning - gentically identical copy of a living thing
   • Genetic Engineering - the modification of genetic information
