Surrogacy

a form of fidelity treatment in which a woman's egg is fertilized artificially by another women's partner or an embryo created through IVF and then implanted into the host women. The woman carries the baby throughout pregnancy and gives it to the couple after the birth
Surrogacy in the Bible
1. Abraham and Sarah wanted a child but they were both very old. Sarah encouraged Abraham to have a baby with her servant Hagar who bore them Ishmael.
2. some Christians use this example to argue that surrogacy is justified morally.
3. woman argue that by offering themselves as surrogate mothers they are doing what Hagar did

1. it is the loving thing to do
2. responding to the love that God gives them by showing love to others
3. should be able to share ability to have children with others less fortunate

1. Involves another person in the married relationship
2. undermines the right of a child to be conceived, carried in the womb, born and brought up in marriage
3. Child won't be able to discover own identity and achieve proper human development outside of married parents
