SPC CONCEPTS

1. PROCESS: is a series of actions or operations conducing to an end.

2. PRODUCT: is something resulting from or necessarily following from a set of conditions.

3. CUSTOMER: one that purchases a commodity or service.

4. QUALITY: the standard of something as measured against other things of a similar kind.

   • QUALITATIVE: of, relating to, or involving quality or kind
   • QUANTITATIVE: expressible as a quantity or relating to or susceptible of measurement

5. STANDARDIZATION: means to change them so that they all have the same features.

6. VARIABILITY: refers to how spread out a set of data is.

   • COMMON CAUSES: are the usual quantifiable and historical variations in a system that are natural.
   • SPECIAL CAUSES: refers to unexpected glitches that affect a process.
