Passive Attack-Someone monitors data travelling on a network and intercepts any sensitive information they find.
Active Attack-Someone who attacks a network with malware or other planned attacks-easier to detect.
DDoS-hackers attempt to stop users from accessing a network or website. They mainly do this by flooding the network with useless data packets making the network extremely slow or inaccessible
Scareware-a sort of message telling the user that their computer is infected with viruses that scare them into following malicious links or paying from their problems to be fixed
Spyware-secretly monitors actions such as keys pressed and it sends the information back to the hacker
Viruses-they replicate and attach themselves to certain files that may be important. They replicate by user assistance if they decide to copy the infected file and activate them
Insider attack-someone within an organisation who exploits their network, gaining access to information
Worm-a worm doesn't require any assistance to self replicate, this allows them to spread alarmingly quick and exploit weaknesses within network security
Brute Force attack-a software will be used which generates hundreds of passwords that can be used to access the user login through trial and error meaning that they will 'spam' generated passwords until they find the correct one.
Ransomware-encrypts files and demands for the user to pay in order to regain access to the encrypted files
Trojan Horse-A virus that hides in the place of something that you may trust which will end up manifesting your device with the virus
Botnet-a group of internet connected devices controlled by bots, they can perform their own DDoS attacks distributedly as well as spamming victims with phishing emails
