- Learning Objectives: 1. Understand and be able to use notation commonly utilized when creating contingency tables for multiple variables. 2. Be able to find and interpret the odds ratio for marginal association between two categorical variables. 3. Be able to find and interpret the odds ratio for the conditional association between two categorical variables. 4. Use a generalized linear model with a Poisson family in R to create the log-linear model for the expected cell frequencies. 5. Understand and be able to identify when variables are mutually, jointly or conditionally independent of each other. 6. Be able to find and utilize the AIC optimal log-linear model for multiple categorical variables. 7. Understand and be able to conduct a test of hypothesis to determine if two categorical variables are conditionally independent of each other.
