1. Hub

   • a network hub is the central connection point for devices in a network.
     • devices can be connected via ethernet or wireless
       • hubs are at a large disadvantage compared to switches. hubs dont organize the traffic going through them like switches do
   • Advantage
     • the hub costs less than a switch

2. switch

   • this is a device that forwards packets of data between networks
     • it needs to be linked to at least 2 networks either a wan lan or isp network provider
   • disadvantages
     • you can get some delays when too many packets are being organized at a time
