CONDITIONALS

1. FIRST CONDITIONAL

   • It's used to talk about things that might or might not happen in the near future
     • STRUCTURE
       • IF/WHEN + PRESENT SIMPLE, ... + FUTURE TENSE
         • SENTENCES:
           • - If I study today, I'll go to the party tonight.
             • - When I finish all the homework, I will go to my cousin's house.

2. SECOND CONDITIONAL

   • It's used to talk about impossible/ imaginary things.
     • STRUCTURE:
       • IF + PAST SIMPLE, .. + WOULD + INFINITIVE VERB
         • SENTENCES:
           • - If I were you, I would do more exercise.
             • - If I won the lottery, I would buy a big house.

3. THIRD CONDITIONAL

   • It's used to express the past consequence of an unrealistic action or situation in the past.
     • STRUCTURE
       • IF + PAST PERFECT + WOULD + HAVE + PAST PARTICIPLE VERB
         • SENTENCES:
           • - You would have passed your exam if you had worked harder.
             • - If it had rained, you would have gotten wet.

4. ZERO CONDITIONAL

   • It is used to talk about facts that are generally true.
     • STRUCTURE
       • IF/WHEN + SUBJECT + VERB + COMPLEMENT + CONSEQUENCE
         • SENTENCES:
           • - If you touch a fire, you get burned
             • - When it rains, tennis lessons are held in the gym.
     • It uses simple present tense for the action and consequence.

5. MIXED CONDITIONAL

   • It hasn't restrictions on the way tenses, causes, and consequences are mingled.
     • Past tense --- Consequence in the present
       • - If I had played soccer with my friends, I would be relaxed now.
     • Probability --- Consequence
       • - You could be very happy if you marry the love of your life.
