Mind map: composite resin

Contenido del mapa

COMPOSITE RESIN

  1. resin matrix, filler, silane coupling agent

  2. Non adhesive material - requires bonding agent

  3. Hydrophobic, photophillic

  4. polymerisation shrinkage

  5. place in small increments - only cures at 2mm

    • pts can be hypersenitive to products
  6. ADVANTAGES

    • Wear and compressive resistance matches tooth substance
    • command set - light cure
    • good aesthetics
    • more conservative of tooth tissue
  7. DISADVANTAGES

    • polymerisation shrinkage
    • moisture control essential
    • technique of placement
      • 2mm increments - time consuming
  8. TECHNIQUES TO OVERCOME POLYMERISATION

    • keep field as dry as poss - will shrink away from water
    • ramped output from light source
    • place in oblique increments
    • direct light to gingival floor
  9. CLINICAL INDICATIONS

    • Anterior - classIII, IV, V
    • Posterior - Class I, II, V
    • Deciduous restorations
  10. ANTERIOR - outline form, access from palatal/lingual aspect

    • keep prep as min as possible - use small round bur
    • Remove caries from ADJ and as much stained dentine - better aesthetics
    • Bevel enamel edges for larger surface area of bonding
    • Apply comp in increments using clear matrix and cure for 30secs
  11. CLINICAL HANDLING OF COMP IN ANT TEETH

    • Best aesthetic result when final increment is placed
    • placed under clear matrix removes oxygen layer
