with if and unless, when and until

1. If

   • Cosas que queremos que ocurran.
   • Things that could have happened.
   • If you study, you will pass the exam

2. When

   • When they pass the test, they’ll be done with university.
   • Those actions that intersect or interrupt the action that was in progress

3. Unless

   • It is followed by a verb in the present, past or past perfect tense (never a conditional).
   • It is used instead of if + not in conditional sentences of all types.
   • When we use "unless", the order of the propositions does not matter.
   • You'll be sick unless you stop eating.

4. Until

   • Until is used to refer to an action that lasts until a certain time.
   • Emphasis is placed on the action and its duration up to a certain point in time.
   • We lived in that flat until last December.
