Parallel Lines

1. If two lines in a plane do not intersect each other , they are called parallel lines

2. The distance between parallel lines does not change ,it is same everywhere

3. Lines, parallel to given line in a plane ,one parallel to each other

4. Two lines in the same plane perpendicular to a given line are parallel to each other

5. Railway tracks , opposite edges of rectangular blackboard are all practical examples of parallel lines.

6. CORRESPONDING ANGLES :If two lines are parallel ,then the corresponding ones are equal . If corresponding angles are equal , then the two lines are parallel .

7. CO INTERIOR ANGLES : If two lines are parallel the sum of two co interior angles 180 degree .If the sum of co interior angles are 180 degree ,then the two lines are parallel

8. ALTERNATE ANGLES: If two lines are parallel, then the alternate interior or exterior angles are equal and if the alternate interior or exterior angles are equal ,then two lines are parallel.
