1. CULTURE MEDIA

   • Media ingredients
     • A Carbon source
       • Glucose
         • for bacterial growth
     • Water

       • For bacterial growth

       • E.g. beef, yeast extract

2. BATCH CULTURE

   • contains extra ingredients needed for growth
   • e.g. universal bottles, flasks, fermenters of liquid medium
