COMPSCI280 2017 Exam study questions

The exam will have 46 multiple choice questions, all worth one mark, and two open text questions about UML diagrams, worth 2 and 12 marks respectively. Here are some questions to help you focus your exam preparation.

What do you need to identify before you can draft use cases?

- Firstly we must have a good understanding of the requirments and needs of both the system and the user. (Functional (What the system should do) and Non-Functional (Performance requirements ).)

- 2 main things that need to be defined before drafting a use-case for a system are:

Actor - who is going to be using the system.

Use Case - a task the system will perform.

What would you expect in a Software Requirement Specification?

What properties are assured by Agile Software Development?

What information can be learned from a use case diagram?

What are areas of concern in the design model?

User In Control

The user has decisions about what they can do, they are not forced in to undesired actions.

Allowing flexibility.

Reduce Memory Load

Not demanding the user to remember a lot. They more they need to remember the more error prone. Also involves meaningful defaults.

User Familiarity

The interface should use terms and concepts that are familiar to the users.

Consistency

There should be consistency of layout, etc. for less learning.

Minimal Surprise

The system should operate in a predictable way, the user should never be surprised by an action.

Forgiveness/Recoverability

The system should allow a user to correct a mistake or prevent them from occurring (i.e. undo, confirmation boxes)

User Guidance

Helpful error messages should be shown and help should be available.

User Diversity

The system should be usable by many types of people (i.e. poor vision)
