RELIABILITY OF COMPUTER SYSTEMS...

RELIABILITY:

How much a computer system be trusted in order to do its job (which is set by a human to start with) and to fill out its needs perfectly without any 'hitches'.

These 'hitches' can be anything from a bulb being blown in a house to a nuclear meltdown. Without the fail-safes and backups, the worlds health is in danger. If the temperature of the uranium rods is slowly climbing and the computer system in charge of monitoring it fails to detect it, then the power station and its surroundings are in serious and fatal danger. However, If the problem is noticed by a fail-safe 'second' monitoring system then the problem is averted, the failed system is replaced with a 'working one' and everyone is happy.

IF there was a nuclear meltdown in the middle of a busy city then this would be quite a big and bad problem. It would have a large effect on personal, financial and the Economical state
