in a microwave, a electronic vaccum tube called the magnetron, produces short radio waves called microwaves. these waves travel through a wave guide to a stirrer, it scateres the waves around the object in the microwave which enters the food and molecule in the food called water molecules act like a tiny magnet around the microwaves entering the food, which then makes the molecules move back and forth 2 billion times a second which causes heat.
