IMPROPER FRACTION TO MIXED NUMBER
2 and 2
__ Multiply denominator by whole number, then add numerator! 3x2 = 6 + 2 = 8 Now it's 8/3 :3
3
MIXED NUMBER TO IMPROPER FRACTION
8/3 or Eight divided by three.
8 divided by 3 is 2
3 l 8
-6
_______
2
THREE Becomes denominator
REMAINDER Two becomes numerator
AND TWO ON TOP OF THE 8 BECOMES DIVISOR
Use division to change a fraction to a decimal.
Convert 5 and 9/20 to decimal. How you ask? o-o Easy ;3
DIVIDE! 9 divided by 20 = 0.45 Now add the whole number aka 5 :) 5.45..Boom
Decimal to Fraction :3
2.93
3 Is the Hundredths place!
Tis is now 2 and 93/100 Easy Bewm :3
DECIMAL TO PERCENT :D
0.87
Write as fraction with denominator of 100 ;3
87/100
Numerator is percent!
OORRR......
Just move the decimal two places to the right
0.87
08.7
087.
Boom 87%
FRACTION TO PERCENT
3/5
First convert fraction to decimal
3 Divided by 5 becomes 0.6
Convert decimal to percent
The 6 is in the tenths place!
0.6 = 60%
So the fraction 3/5 = 60%
Any number that can be written as a proper or improper fraction is a rational number.
There are several ways to compare rational numbers. One way is to rewrite each fraction using the least common denominator (LCD)
3/4, 3/5, 1/2
Find LCD that all three of them share
The Lowest is 20!
Now multiply them all
3/4 = 3*5 and 4 *5 which the fraction is now 15/20
3/5 becomes 12/20
1/2 becomes 10/20
Now Order the Fractions!
10/20 ----> 12/20 ----> 15/20
Arranged from smallest to largest. Increasing.
Now you can change it back and answer with
1/2, 3/5, 3/4
Another way to compare rational numbers is to convert fractions to decimals.
-63/8
-8 AND 4/5
-7.54
DIVIDE!
-63/8 Becomes -7.875
-8 AND 4/5 becomes -8.8
With this you can do..
8 PLUS 4 Divided by 5
Now..Order the decimals..
-8.8 ---> -7.875 ----> -7.54
Then just put the original answers back!
Comparison Property!
Cross Products
9/14 ......13/24
9 x 24
216
13 x 14
182
216 is greater > than 182
Therefore 9/14 is > than 13/24
Between any two rational numbers are an infinite number of other rational numbers. This property of rational numbers is known as the density property of rational numbers.
To find a rational number between two given rational numbers, find the average of the given numbers.
To rational number between 4 and 5, find their average.
4+5 = 9 divided 2 = 4 and 1/2
Add
Divide By 2
4 and 1/2 is a rational number between 4 and 5
3/5 and 9/10
Multiply 3/5 by 2
you now get
6/10 + 9/10 which = 15/10 now divide 2 which = 15/20
