nitrogen cycle: the process of fixing nitrogen into ammonia is known as nitrogen fixation.
nitrification whereas is the process when ammonia turns into a nitrate.
its a two step process, the first step's catalyst is called NITROSOMONAS or NITROCOCCUS and the next step's catalyst is known as NITROBACTER. (chemautotrophs)
