Bohr`s proposal of the atomic model. He proposed that the electrons move around the atoms in atomic orbit. Each energy sublevel corresponds to one or more orbitals of different shapes. The orbitals describe where an electron is likely to be found. Limitations of Rutherfords atomic model; Cannot explain the chemical properties of elements. For example the color emotion.
THE QUANTUM MECHANICAL MODEL
The positively charged nucleus contains protons and neutrons. The electron cloud is a visual model of the probable location of the electrons in an atom. The probability of finding an electron idle higher in the denser regions of the cloud.
Different atomic orbitals are denoted by letters. For a given principal greater than one, there is one S orbital.
