Multiplying Decimals

• - The number of places in the question, the number of places in the answer.
• Example: 0.4 times 0.5 = 0.20 = 0.2
• 4 times 5 = 20
• Example 2: 1.2 times 0.66 = 0.792
• 12 times 66 = 792

Dividing Decimals

• - You must always divide BY a whole number
• 5.78 divided by 1.7
• - Write the question as a fraction
• times by 10
• 5.78 57.8
• -------- ---------- now you do 17 divided by 57.8 which is 3.8
• 1.7 17
• times by 10
