1How can you measure the speed of an object?
- Ametres per second (m/s)
- Bkilometres per hour (kph)
- Cmiles per hour (mph)
- Dyards per minute (ypm)
2The faster the speed of an object:
- Athe greater the distance it travels
- Bthe lighter the object is
- Cthe shorter the time it takes to travel a particular distance
- Dthe quicker the acceleration of the object
- Ethe larger the surface area of the object, therefore creating more drag
3speed = .... ?
- Adistance * time
- B((u+v)/2) * t
- Cdistance / time
- Dspeed / distance
4Why is average distance used?
- Ato make the answer more reliable
- Bthe speed may change over a given distance, so the average distance over the whole journey is used
- Cthe speed may change direction, so it is better to use an average DISTANCE instead of speed
5How do speed cameras work?
- AThey generally take 3 pictures of several vehicles a certain time apart
- Bthey generally take 2 pictures of 1 vehicle a certain time apart
6What is the formula for calculating the speed of a car using speed cameras?
- Aspeed of car = distance travelled between pictures/ time taken between 1st and 2nd picture
- Bspeed of vehicle = distance travelled/ time taken between 2nd and 1st picture
7(Distance-time graphs) The steeper the gradient....
- Athe greater the distance travelled within a short amount of time
- Bthe greater the speed
- Cthe quicker the accelertion
8(distance - time graphs) a straight diagonal line shows...
- Aa steady speed
- Bacceleration
9(distance-time graphs) a straight horizontal line (---------) shows.....
- ANo movement (stationary)
- BThe object is going backwards
- CThe object is travelling in a straight line
10(distance-time graphs) a steeper diagonal line means....
- Aan increase in speed (object is going faster than it was before)
- Bobject is moving at a steady speed
- Cobject is accelerating
- Dcar has gone past the speed limit
11(distance-time graphs) a diagonal line going downwards means....
- AThe object is decellerating
- BObject is moving slower
- Cobject is going backwards
12How do you work out the speed of an object on a distance-time graph?
- Adivide the area of the time and divide it by the length of the distance
- Btake any 2 points on the graph and read off the distance travelled for that part of the journey and the time taken to get there
13the acceleration / deceleration of an object is..... ?
- Athe change in speed per second
- Bhow fast the object is moving
14how do you measure acceleration and deceleration?
- Aacceleration = measured in:
m/s * m/s (a.k.a. metres per second squared) - Bdeceleration = measured in:
-m/s * -m/s (a.k.a. - metres per second squared) - Cm/s, kph or mph
- Aacceleration = measured in:
15How do you work out the acceleration of a moving object?
- Achange in speed/ time taken for change in speed
- Bacceleration = (final velocity - initial velocity) / time
- Cs = ((u + v) /2) * t
16Example question: a car accelerates at 1.5 m/s2 for 12 seconds.
Calculate the change in speed of the car- A18 m/s
- B8 m/s
- C8 m/s2
17(speed-time graphs) a horizontal line means...
- ANo acceleration (0 m/s2)
- BConstant acceleration
18(speed-time graphs) a positive diagonal line shows....
- Aacceleration
- Ban increase in speed
19(speed-time graphs) a negative diagonal line shows..
- Adeceleration
- Bgoing backwards
20(speed-time graphs) the area underneath the speed-time can be used to measure....
- Adistance travelled
- Btotal time taken
21How would you calculate the total distance travelled on a speed-time graph?
- ACut the graph into triangles and rectangles, then find the area for each shape and add them all up
- Bmultiply the y-axis by the x-axis
22What is Force measured in?
- ANewtons
- BGravity
- Ckg
23Forces can cause objects to....?
- Aaccelerate
- Bdecellerate
- Cto be heavier
24Weight causes an object to have.... ?
- Agravity
- Bforce
- Cmore acceleration
25How does friction affect a car?
- Acauses it to slow down
- Bcauses sparks in the wheels
- Cmakes it go faster
26What happens when a sky diver opens up a parachute mid-jump?
- AAir resistance
- BFriction
- CGravity
27What happens to a sky-diver mid-jump when air resistance and weight are balanced?
- Athey stay at a constant speed
- Bthey don't move and stay stock-still in mid-air
- Cthey accelerate
28if an unbalanced force acts, the acceleration of an object will depend on: ?
- Athe force applied to the object
- Bthe mass of the object
- Cthe speed of the object
- Dthe surface area of the object (larger surface area will create more drag)
- Ethe density of the object
29more mass = ... ?
- A= more acceleration
- B= less acceleration
- C= less kinetic energy
30What is the formula for the relationship between force, mass and acceleation
resultant force (N) = .... ?- A= mass (kg) * acceleration (m/s2)
- B= work done * time (s)
- C= acceleration (m/s2) / mass (kg)

- This is a test I made to help with an end of unit test I'm going to take soon (it's not the real GCSE). It's probably best to take this after you've revised, to test how much you know, or you could use it to jog your memory. Please like! (Or whatever you can do - positively - on this website). Good luck on any Physics test you have - P3 is all about equations, so practise practise practise!!!
