- Abstraction is the process of simplifying a set of instructions and removing all the unnecessary details.
- It saves time and speeds up the end program. The finished code can also be copied and re-used, so it saves time later down the line as well. Code can also be easily maintained and updated too.
- When programming as a team, each programmer can work on a single portion of the overall program and just link to the other parts. This is the "layer of abstraction".
-
- Selection is the process of picking a particular pathway in an algorithm. This is usually done in actual code using an if/elseif/else statement, and is easy to identify.
-
- Iteration is the process of repeating a set of instructions. This is done in the form of loops, of which there are two types: condition controlled and count controlled.
- Condition controlled loops iterate until a certain condition is met.
