  1. 1"Stars hide your fires, let not light see my black and deep desires"- Macbeth reveals his temptation in fulfilling the witches prophecies
    - First crucial error here by listening to the witches
  2. 2"It is too full o' the milk of human kindness"- Act 1, scene 3, L.M reading Macbeth's letter
    - L.M thinks Macbeth is too kind-hearted to do what it takes to fulfill the witches prophecies
  3. 3"That which hath made them drunk hath made me bold; what hath quench'd them hath given me fire"- Shows L.M's strong character compared to Macbeth's weaker character
_ Shows L.M & Macbeth did not have the ordinary kind of relationship of that time
  4. 4"Unsex me here and fill me from crown to toe-top full of direst cruelty"- L.M wants to put her natural femininity aside in order to do what is necessary to seize the crown
    - Unusual at that time as women were not meant to be the stronger characters
  5. 5"Glamis hath murdered sleep and therefore Cawdor shall sleep no more: Macbeth shall sleep no more"- Macbeth clearly feels a great amount of guilt after committing regiside (killing the King)
    - Macbeth is now mentally disturbed and cannot sleep no more so is acting strange
  6. 6"Never shake thy gory looks at me"- At the banquet Macbeth sees Banquo's ghost & starts to act strange, worrying the guests/subjects
    - L.M tells guests Macbeth has had this problem since childhood & they believed her because they didn't see another reason for his strange behaviour
  7. 7"Something wicked this way comes"- Macbeth meets with the witches again seeking solace and advice
    - The state is in a mess and Macbeth doesn't know what to do anymore
  8. 8"Is this a dagger I see before me? The handle towards my hand"Macbeth has agreed to kill Duncan but is clearly not 100% sure if it's the right decision
    - Macbeth begins to waver so L.M has to step in and take over
  9. 9"We shall proceed no further in this business. He hath honoured me of late & I have brought golden opinions from all sorts of people"- Macbeth is having doubts about killing the king
    - Macbeth knows Duncan has been a good king & has reasons to kill him other than his vaulting ambition pushing him
