Purine Nucleotide Cycle Oxaloacetate rate-limiting if much acetyl-CoA. Breakdown of ATP in strenuous exercise generates fumerate to produce more oxaloacetate
How is citrate synthase controlled? Allosterically inhibited by ATP
Why is citrate synthase regulation important? Gluconeogenesis. Inhibited by hight [ATP]. Oxaloacetate directed to gluconeogenesis and acetyl-CoA for ketone bodies to fuel brain
How is isocitrate dehydrogenase regulated? Inhibited by ATP and NADH in fed state
How is oxoglutarate dehydrogenase controlled? Inhibited by NADH and succinyl CoA Stimulated by Ca2+
How is Acetyl CoA produced? Pyruvate dehydrogenase
How is pyruvate dehydrogenase controlled Inhibited by pyruvate Stimulated by Ca2+ - "on" in exercise Regulated by ratio of NADH/NAD+ and acetlycoA/coA
