Open circulatory System? An open circulatory system means blood leaves the blood vessels and flows around the cells of the animals body before re-entering blood vessels again (Crabs,lobsters, insects and spiders)
Closed circulatory system ? A closed circulatory system means blood remains in a continuous system of blood vessels.
Blood pressure Blood pressure is the force of blood against the walls of the arteries.
Valves Valves control the direction of blood flow. i.e Prevent the back flow of blood.
L.O.R.D Left Oxygenated Right Deoxygenated
Portal system A portal system is a blood pathway that begins and ends in the capillaries. (Not connected directly to the heart) Example: hepatic portal vein, this vein connects the stomach and intestines to the liver.
Diastole Diastole is the term for when the heart chambers relax.
Systole Systole is when the heart chambers contract
A pulse A pulse is the alternate expansion and contraction of the arteries.
