Question | Answer |
Bus Request | Indicates that a device is requesting the use of the data bus. |
Bus Grant | Indicates that the CPU has granted acxcess to the data bus. |
Memory Write | Causes data on the data bus to be written into the addressed location. |
Memory Read | Causes data from the addressed location to be placed on the data bus. |
Interrupt Request | Indicates that a device is requesting access from the CPU. |
Clock | Used to synchronise operations. |
Control Bus | - Bi-directional bus - Ensures that access to the other buses by different components is not conflicting - Transmits timing and status information |
Data Bus | - Bi-directional bus - Moves data and instructions between components |
Address Bus | - One-way bus - Goes from processor to bus, then bus to I/O and memory - Memory is divided into words - Every word has a specific address, transmitted by the address bus |
