What is a balanced diet? | A balanced diet is one which contains the right amount of nutrients to match your lifestyle. It should be able to provide energy for someone to get through the day. |
What does food do for us? | Provides us with energy. Repairs muscles. Repairs injured tissues. |
What is blood shunting? | Blood flow reduces to systems that are not in use e.g if you eat before exercise all the blood rushes to your stomach to try and digest the food. If you exercise quickly after this you can get cramp as the blood rushes from your stomach to your muscles. |

What are proteins and what are their function? | Proteins: Macronutrients Function: Repair and rebuild muscle tissue. |
What are fats and what is their function? | Fats: Macronutrients. Function: Source of slow release energy, can be stored in the body. |
What are vitamins and what is their function? | Vitamins: Micronutrients. Function: Helps keep general health, vision, skin looking healthy. |
What are minerals and what is their function? | Minerals: Micronutrients. Function: Provides calcium to help the growth of bones and iron which helps making red blood cells. |

What is the function of water? | Function: Needed in order to replenish water which is lost in urine, sweat and condensation when we breath. :Also prevents dehydration. |
