SANCTITY OF LIFE The belief that all life is given by god therefore in sacred
STEWARDSHIP God gave humans the responsibility and right to care and manage the world
SUICIDE Deliberately ending ones life
CHRISTIAN ABORTION TEACHINGS - all hum life is sacred -only god can take away life -lack of faith in god, he has a plan for everyone therefore pregnancy might be one of them -abortion is murder because life begins at conception -alternatives such as adoption and fostering - christian for free choice, they believe the woman has the right -AGAPE, woman should be given the choice of abortion as that's what people would like done to them in they were in that position
ROMAN CATHOLIC ABORTION ATTITUDES ROMAN CATHOLIC - abortion never allowed -might allow in the case of double effect, where there is abortion to save the mothers life -fetus has the same rights as anyone else - god knew us from our mothers womb. life is scared and abortion is spoiling gods plans
CHRISTIANS ABORTION ATTITUDES METHODISTS - abortion is evil and should be avoided at all cost unless mothers life is at risk OTHERS - its the mothers decision to do whats best for herself. the reason behind abortion might be valid and its up to them to make that judgement. -agape, do to others what you'd have them do to you - abortion might be the most loving and compassionate action
WHY CHRISTIANS HAVE DIFFERENT VIEWS ON ABORTION - they been in the same situation and there views changed - disagreement on when a fetus is considered a living organism
CHRISTIAN TEACHINGS AGAINST ABORTION -all human life is sacred. we all special to god and he has plans for us including how long we should live -god gave life and its not for any human to take away -lack of faith in god, he knows when we should die and we should trust in god not to give them any more than they can cope -roman catholic agree with double effect, such as tablets given to ease pain but as an effect, they shorten their life too. intention was to help not kill them. -considered a sin as its going against the commandment of thou shall not kill - every human life has potential. the sanctity of life, every life has a purpose. even those suffering can be a benefit to society and fulfill their god given purpose. e.g. Stephen hawking
CHRISTIAN TEACHINGS FOR ABORTION -AGAPE, abortion might be the most compassionate and loving thing to do. god is all loving and life doesn't not have to be preserved at all cost. god has no use of someone in intolerable pain or incapable of doing anything themselves -Anglicans believe that everyone has the right to refuse treatment which allows passive euthanasia. But they cannot determine when they die.
ATTITUDES FOR FERTILITY TREATMENT -some christian believe god has nothing to do with when a woman gets pregnant - god have us the intelligence to help those in need such as those incapable of getting pregnant - its a woman's choice, not gods, what she does with her body - if its AIH, there's no problem as the child will have both biological parents
ATTITUDES AGAINST FERTILITY TREATMENT - god might have closed womb like he did to Hannah. its god decision whether someone has children or not and only he can give life. fertility treatment is going against gods plans - AID means that both parents are not being responsible for the life they created and children have the right to know who their father is. - AID brings a third person into the relationship and marriage was intended to be between two people. the 3rd person might cause problems such as jealousy or inadequacy within the marriage. -alternatives such as adoption or fostering - spare parts, not all the eggs and sperm are used. if a egg and sperm have already fused, the destruction of them is murder.
attitudes to suicide - only god can take life as hes the one who gave it - the suffering might be for a reason such as to learn a lesson from god. they must have faith in god - suicide is murder which is against the commandments - the body is the temple of god and should be respected -suicide is selfish as impact of others is not thought if - suffering brings us closer to god as people turn to him for help and support. - some Christians believe love and support should be offered to those who feel suicide is their only option and will work with charities such as Samaritans
