Thomas Jefferson Thomas was the 3rd president. He is mainly known for the declaration of Independence.
Andrew Jackson Andrew Jackson was the 17th president after Abe Lincoln. He was Democrat so he favored the south ideas and he leaned towards what the southerners thought about reconstruction.
Sacagawea She was picked during the Lewis and Clark expedition. She was helpful because she made the Indians think they were peaceful and she helped as a guide.
James Polk He was the 11th president. He was known for getting land by Biffisi. This stands for bought it, fought for it, and sold it.
Fredrick Douglass Fredrick was a former slave who escaped and headed north. He later became a spokesmen and leader. He taught him self how to read so he could understand what was going on.
Harriet Beecher She was northerner that lived on the boundary from north to south. she experienced slaved auctions and she thought that was terrible. She was known for the book uncle toms cabin.
John Brown John was an Abolitionist who believed in forcefully getting things done. He didn't try to talk he fought for freedom.
Robert E. Lee He was known for being a leader for the confederate states and winning many battles. Later during the war he was forced to surrender and that's basically when the North won.
Andrew Johnson Andrew was the 17th president. He was Lincolns Vice but unfortunately he was assassinated so he had to take his place in command. Before he was president Abraham had a plan to reconstruct the nation. However Andrew Johnson thought that the states had the right for them to decide what to do.
Susan B. Anthony She was a woman's suffrage activist who was anti slavery. She was trying to rebel and let woman have equal rights.
Sitting Bull Sitting Bull was a chief for the Hunkpapa Lokata clan. He lead many rebellions against the U.S. Army. Later he was killed.
George Custer George Graduated from WestPoint and later became a leader. He led many attacks against the native Americans.
Cornelius Vanderbilt Cornelius was a very rich man during the gilded age. He made most his money on railroads.
John Rockefeller John was also a very rich man. he made his money off of Standard Oil.
Andrew Carnegie He also was a very wealthy man but he made his money from steal.
Jamestown Jamestown was the first establishment after settling on America. If they were to fail America wouldn't have been discovered until many years later. They thrived on local animals for food and trading with Indians.
Plymouth Plymouth was the second known establishment. This one was established for religious freedom and having a new life.
Lexington and Concord In 1775 The Red coats and the Americans were battling at Lexington. The solders got the gunpowder from Concord. They were battling for freedom from the Red Coats.
Erie Canal Erie Canal starts is New York and ends in Alabama. This man made water way was very important for many things. Like transportation, sewers, and others
Alamo The Alamo is known for its long lasting attack. It lasted 13 days as the Mexicans and Texans held of Antonio's army.
Harpers Ferry This was were one of the biggest armories was. John Brown tried to lead a revolt their and steal weapons and arm slaves. But nobody joined and he died.
Fort Sumter Fort Sumter is known for being the place were the first shots of the civil war were shot.
Gettysburg Gettysburg is known for its 4 day attack. This was a huge win for the union because they were getting defeated.
Appomattox Courthouse This were Robert E Lee surrender to the union. This was basically the end of the war.
Fords Theater This place is known for the place wear Abraham Lincoln was Assassinated by John Wilkes Booth.
Promontory Point, Utah This place is known for being where the first transcendental railroad was at.
Ellis Island and Angel Island These places are known for mass migration. one was with Europeans and Chinese.
Declaration Of Independence This was a document stating that us Americans want to separate from Europe.
Revolutionary War This was simply a war for independence and having our own rights.
Articles of Confederation This was the first constitution but it was to weak for the people so they had to make a new one.
Great Compromise This was when the legislative gave the small states the equal rights as the big states.
Passing the Constitution The Constitution gave the people something to follow so all of hard work wouldn't go to waste.
Adding the Bill of rights The Bill of rights added a lot more details in what to not do. These are the backbone of the constitution.
Louisiana Purchase In 1803 Americans bought the land From the French acquiring 827,000 acres of land.
Missouri Compromise The compromise was to let Missouri in as a slave state, but they needed a free state and that was Maine. so the compromise worked out.
Indian Removal Act This was passed in 1820 by Andrew Jackson stating that all Indian tribes will get moved to reservations so we can have their land.
Mexican American War Was in 1846-1848 and this was a battle for land in southwest region.
California Gold Rush In 1848 Gold was discovered in California. One year later the word got spread and miners came to get the gold.
Homestead Act In 1862 their was 162 acres of open land and it could be taken for free as long as they would pay a filing fee.
Industrial Revolution The industrial Revolution started in 1760 and ended around 1820. This was a time period when electronics were booming.
Underground Railroad The under ground railroad was a way to get slaves to the north. It was not a railroad but a safe passage route.
Seneca Falls Convention This was a meeting in Seneca Falls to get woman together and plan a way to get Woman's Rights.
Compromise of 1850 After the American And Mexican war their was some open land. So they distributed between free and slave states.
Kansas Nebraska Act of 1854 This act separated the states Kansas and Nebraska.
Dred Scott v. Sanford This was when a slave in the north fought against being a slave since he was in a free state.
Fugitive Slave Act This was a law passed for any run a way slaves and if they were seen someone would have to bring them back to their owner.
Bleeding Kansas During the election of Kansas being a free or slave state, border ruffians would come over and vote for slavery. While Kansans would vote for free.
Civil War This was a fight to get the southern states back to be a whole nation not a half a nation. It happened because of slavery.
Emancipation of Proclamation This was the right for slaves having their freedom and not being considered property.
Civil War Draft Riots This was when citizens would riot for having their family drafted in the war.
Gettysburg Address Gettysburg address was the kick start in the faith in finishing this war and not letting all their hard work go to nothing.
Reconstruction This was the idea get back the nation as one and not have anymore grudges and hatred towards others.
Civil War Amendments These gave the black people basically equal rights. But sometimes it wouldn't be enforced. 13th Banned slavery,14th gave anyone who was born in the US civil rights and the 15th was the right to vote.
Completion Of Transcontinental Railroad This was a big thing because now supplies and transportation can get to places it normally wouldn't US wide.
Indian Wars Their were 5 main leaders for the Indians. They fought back In different areas and all failed. They were forced to change or move onto reservations.
Gilded Age The gilded age was kind of the starter to manufactured items. In this time period steel, railroads, Oil and others were being mass produced.
Populist Party This was a group of people who work hard labor and were paid little to nothing or worked in a dangerous place. So they rioted peacefully.
Plessy V. Ferguson This was when the law was passed that races were going to be separate but equal.
