Question Answer
Infancy 0-2 years A time when growth is rapid and when a child will learn to crawl, walk, use their hands to move objects and to feel themselves and begin to communicate.
Early childhood 3-8 years Growth is still rapid but not as rapid as the infancy stage. By the age of eight a child will be able to run, hop, ride a bike, communicate well and join in games.
Adolescence 9-18 years Adolescence is a time for physical changes to a child's body and the start of puberty; a time when a child appears grown up but on occasion can be childish. Friends may become more important and influential than family.
Early adulthood 19-45 years During early adulthood an individual is said to be in peak physical health and fitness. There may be major changes such as gaining employment, marriage and starting a family.
Middle adulthood 16-65 years This can be a time for increased responsibilities in caring for children and maybe older family relatives. There may be a decline in physical ability, which is compensated for by knowledge and experience . There will be some physical changes such as men losing their hair or turning grey.
Later adulthood 65+ Later adulthood is a time when the body begins to decline and there are problems with mobility and agility. Reactions are slower and although wisdom increases, mental agility can diminish. It is important to remember that not everyone grows at the same time or in the same way.
