What is the central nervous system? Messages sent between the brain and spinal cord.
What is the peripheral nervous system? Messages sent from the brain and spinal cord to the muscles in the body.
What is a spinal reflex? When we react to something and our bodies don't realize it until after it has happened.
What is a homeostasis? A series of automatic control systems ensures that the body maintains a constant temperature and steady levels of water, ions and blood sugar.
What are hormones? Chemicals that act like messages. They are selected by glands and carried in the blood.
What is glucose? A type of sugar used by the body to provide energy.
Name the parts of the eye. Cornea, lens, Retina, Blind spot, Optic nerve, Ciliary muscles, iris and pupil.
Inherited fetchers that form our identity. Cystic fibrosis, attached earlobes, natural hair colour, natural eye colour, sickle-cell anaemia, huntington, freckles, colour blindness, Body mass, height, intelligence, asthma and skin colour.
Environmental fetchers that form our identity. Scars, accent, language, taste, piercings, type 2 diabetes, hair dye, body mass, height, Intelligence, asthma and skin colour.
Explain how a food chain works. The energy at the start of a food chain comes from sunlight. Food chains usually start with green plants. However algae are also producers so they can start of a food chain. Consumers often belong to more than one trophic level. When badgers eat seeds they are primary consumers, when they eat worms they are secondary consumers.
What is a pyramid of biomass? The length of each bar represents the biomass at each level of the food chain.
What is a pyramid of numbers? The length of each bar represents the number of organisms at each level in the food chain.
What are the male and female reproductive cells? Male= X + Y Female = X
How many chromosomes are in a human body cell? There are 23 chromosomes in a human body cell.
