Election A method of filling an office or post though choices made by a designated body of people; The electorate
Majoritarian Representation The political agenda/philsophy which asserts that a majority (sometimes categorized by religion, language, social class) of the population is entitled to a certain degree of primacy in society, and has the right to make decisions that affect the society
Mandate An instruction or command that gives authority to a person or a body to act in a particular way, a mandate therefor confirms legitimation of a political actor
Proportional representation The principle that should be represented in an assembly or parliament in direct proportion to their overall electoral strength
Electoral reform A change in the rules governing elections, usually involving the replacement of one electoral system for another.
Party system A concept concerning the system of government by political parties in a democratic country
Strong government A situation in which government can govern, in the sense of translating its legislative program into public policies
Stable government A government which is cohesive, and therefore stable enough to survive a full term in office
