A word processed letter contains a header, a footer and footnotes. Describe a header, footer and footnotes, giving an example of how each could be used | A header is the text that appears at the top of a document in the top margin of the page. It could be used to contain the date the letter was written. A footer is the text that appears at the bottom of a document in the bottom margin. It could be used to show how many pages are in the letter. A footnote is a note commencing on a point in a document, printed at the bottom of the page. It could be used to tell the reader the author of a quote in the letter and where it came from |
Identify four ways that could be used to make a letter fit onto a single page, without removing any of the content | The page size could be made larger The margins could be made smaller The size of the text could be made smaller The orientation of the page could be changed to make more words fit on a line |
Describe the process of mail merge using word processing software and data from the database | First, the data source has to be created with information that will be required in the document. Then the standard document/template has to be created, including the mail merge fields, which are based on the fields in the database. Next, the data source and the standard document are linked and merged. The software merges the data by inserting the appropriate fields from the data source. Finally, the personalized documents are created and can be sent to a printer or used to create a new file |
