Question Answer
infiltration water soaking into the soil from the surface
through flow water moving downhill through the soil layers, generally slow, but flow may concentrate along the line of the roots or soil weakness which form natural pipes in which flow will be much farster
groundwater stores water held below the table in aquifers (natural underground reservoirs)
percolation water moving from the surface layers to deeper layers of rock and soil.
evaprotranspiration the combined process of evaporation and transpiration that result in the loss of water from the leaf. transpiration is the loss of water from the tiny holes in the stomata in the leafs surface. they are often grouped together,
interception plants trap precipitation so it doesnt pass to ground some drip as through flow and some may as stem flow. some may never touch the ground as percipitation mat evaporate from the leafs surface.
precipitation water falling from the sky- rain, sleet, snow, hail
ground ewater water beneath the surface og the ground
surface run off the flowing of water on the surface of the ground, down a slope.
transpiration the water within a plant is released into the atmosphere as vapour.
the hydrologivcal cycle the movement of water vbetween its different formsd
water table the level below whivch the ground is saturated with water.
condensation the process in which water vapour is converted into water
evaporation water changing from a liquid to gas (ewater vapour)
ground water fliw water moving within rocks below the ground
channel flow water moving downhill within rivers
depresassion storage storage of water in hollows and holes in the ground surface to form puddles.
