What is Geography? Geography is the study of the places that make up our world.
What is environment defined as? Our living and non-living surroundings.
What is a managed environment? An environment in those of which natural elements have been manipulated for human benefits.
What is a constructed environment? The elements of a man made environment.
Why do we study geography? Geography allows people to understand why places have particular environmental and human characteristics.
How many dimensions are there in geography? There are 3 dimensions.
What are the three dimensions? The three dimensions are place, space and environment.
What are geographers main three interest on these dimensions? 1. The process that forms and changes the environment. 2. Uniqueness of places and similarities between them. 3. Knowing were things are located in the surface of the earth and why they are there .
How many areas has geography traditionally been divided in? Two areas.
What are the two areas? The two areas are physical and human geography.
What does Human Geography do? Human geography looks at people and how individually or in groups or communities, they interact with the environment.
What does physical geography do? Physical Geography looks at how the earth was formed how it continues to change the study of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere and biosphere- the 4 parts of the biophysical environment
Name 4 things that we can do by studying geography. 1. We can lead more enriched lives 2. We can become effective guardians of our future world 3. We can think spatially. 4. We can develop a range of skills demanded by employers.
What is a biophysical environment? An environment dominated by natural features such as landforms and vegetation.
Name an example of a biophysical environment. Jim Jim Falls.
What is fieldwork used for? Fieldwork is used to gather data that answers specific questions.
What is fieldwork? Fieldwork is the practical work conducted by a researcher in the natural environment, rather than in a laboratory or office.
