Question | Answer |
Conservative plate movement. | As the plates slide past each other they become stuck, the pressure builds up and release a huge amount of energy therefore creating a major earthquake. |
Constructive plate movement | These plate boundaries move apart. Volcanoes are formed as the magma swells up from the ground to fill the gap that has created. |
Destructive plate movement | When the oceanic and continental plates move together. The oceanic plate is forced under the lighter continental plate. Friction causes melting of the oceanic plate and may trigger earthquakes. |
