Sensitivity The degree of change in the physiological variable the instrument can detect
Specificity The capability of the instrument to measure the desired variable of interest
Stability The ability of an instrument to maintain a calibration over a given time interval
Validity The extent to which the instrument measures the actual parameter of interest
Accuracy Degree to which the variable sensed by the instrument reflects the actual value
Precision The discriminatory power of the instrument; the smaller the change sensed, the greater the precision
Reliability Accuracy of the measurement over time
