coffee -originated in Ethpoia -traded in middle east -spread to europe by trade -coffee is Ethopia's largest export and is 60% of their money
spices -seeds used as a flavouring for food -Egypt traded spices by camel - India, China and Indoesina used camels to trade untill the Europeans found a sea route to trade
salt originated in China - used as as currancy - salt was carried from Africa to middle east to trade
sugar -originated in papa new guinea - it was grown in Africa and Japan -in the 11th century it spread to Europe
chocolate -originated in Mesoamerica -used as a liquid, drunk with chili -christpoher columbus brought it to europe, an spanish explorer brought it to Spain where it was kept as secret
coaco is made up cold pressing unroasted cocoa beans
cocoa is cocao thats been roasted at high temperatures
dutching roasting the cocoa beans in a process which neutrlaises the pH level making it less acidic
