WHAT IS THE CONNECTION BETWEEN ACTS AND LUKE? - 2nd Volume of Luke – Acts - The book of Acts, fulfills the Gospel of Luke and vice versa.
WHO IS LUKE? - We do know that Luke was a Greek and in chapter 16, during Paul’s second missionary journey, Luke inserts himself into the text.
GENTILES - The Book of Acts reveals the promise given to Abraham, that he should be father of all nations, as the Gentiles are grafted back into the God’s chose people. ->Spearheaded by Peter and Paul
THE APOSTLES - We see key roles mainly from James, Peter and Paul.
THE HOLY SPIRIT - The Holy Spirit is the main character of the book of Acts, we see Him fall upon the apostles, we see Him activating the gifts in the Apostles, bringing about healing, salvation and the growth of the NT Church - We see the Holy Spirit preserve Paul and the other Apostles through countless amounts of imprisonments and attacks, both by person and creature.
HOW SHOULD WE LOOK @ THE BOOK FO ACTS? - We cannot afford to look at the book of Acts as merely a historical text of the NT Church. We must study and look through the eyes of the Holy Spirit, discerning the purpose of each situation, each train of events, realizing we are the continuation of the book of Acts, God is masterfully piecing together an orchestrated plan leading up to His Son coming back for the believers
WHAT DID JESUS FOCUS ON FOR 40 DAY? S - For the 40 days of Jesus Earthly ministry after rising, is detailed as being about ONE thing -->THE KINGDOM
HOW COULD THE APOSTLES KEEP THEIR FAITH? - The only way the apostles and followers would be able to keep their faith and not lose heart was if the END WAS IN MIND!
WHY WERE THEY CASTING LOTS? And they cast lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles. ACTS 1:26
GOD IS A GOD OF ORDER... + Apostles being good disciples, understand this principle & place things in order as they patiently await the coming of the Spirit!
WHAT IS SO IMPORTANT ABOUT BAPTISM? - The call to BAPTISM magnified - “Repentance = Receiving” - Holy Spirit follows the Heart of Repentance
WHAT DOES DISCIPLESHIP LOOK LIKE? - DEVOTED - AWE - CHURCH...
WHAT DOES DISCIPLESHIP LOOK LIKE: DEVOTED? • Teaching • Fellowship • Relationship (Breaking Bread) • Prayer
WHAT DOES DISCIPLESHIP LOOK LIKE: AWE? - AWE came upon EVERY soul • Remember your first church experience... • First Connect Group • Baptism, Altar Call, etc. • What Changed? --> Is the AWE of day 1 still there?
WHAT DOES DISCIPLESHIP LOOK LIKE? CHURCH? - Church was not there to serve them... • THEY were there to BUILD & SERVE • Somewhere along the line, we tend to adopt a mindset that church is to serve us... Maturity comes when we see ourselves as the conduits to BUILD & SERVE, not SIT & RECEIVE • If this were the case, then who was there to BUILD UP Peter, James, Paul, John...etc.
WHAT DOES REVIVAL LOOK LIKE? - DEVOTION - GENEROSITY - BOLDNESS

WHAT DOES REVIVAL LOOK LIKE: BOLDNESS? o The Holy Spirit’s work is first INTERNAL before it seen EXTERNALLY
BOLDNESS EQUATION Boldness Leads to the Supernatural ---> The SPREAD of the NT Church
ACTS 3: 1- 10 “Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. 2 And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple. 3 Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms. 4 And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, “Look at us.” 5 And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. 6 But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” 7 And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. 8 And leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.”
