The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 This is the main act relating to health and safety which all the other health and regulations are encompassed by. It impacts on all types of work that is carried out.
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regs 2002 This covers the use of substances that have the potential to cause a person harm, the control measures to take and the correct PPE to wear.
Working at Height Regs 2005 This outlines the health and safety precautions that need to be followed when working at any height where a person could potentially fall and hurt themselves.
Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 2006. The main purpose of MHSWR is for employers to carry out risk assessments relating to health and safety and how it affects employees and other people who may be affected by their work activity.
Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regs 2002 This regulation covers the selection and use of personal protective equipment. The types used and how they are maintained.
Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regs 1998 This regulation places duties on employers to provide work equipment that is fit for purpose. It also places duties on employees to use work equipment correctly and safely.
Manual Handling Operations Regs 1999 This regulations relates to the moving of objects and materials by bodily force.
Workplace Health Safety and Welfare Regs 1992 This regulations place responsibility on employers to provide a workplace that is safe and healthy and provides adequate welfare facilities.
First Aid at Work Regs 2015 This regulation covers the need to provide a provision for first aid for staff and visitors to premises. This states what first aid equipment is to be provided and how many first aiders are needed for the company.
The Control of Asbestos Regs 2012 This regulation relates to actions that are needed to be taken if asbestos is suspected in a building.
The Construction Design and Management Regs 2015. The main purpose of the CDM Regs is to improve health and safety in the construction industry. It covers the whole construction process on all construction projects.
