SECOND CONDITIONAL

1. WHEN CAN IT BE APPLIED?

   • It can be applied when talking about things that may happen in the future but are unlikely to happen.
     • It is also necessary to indicate something in the present that is impossible for some reason, since it is not true or is absolutely improbable.
       • It can also be used to make respectful requests.

2. GRAMMATICAL STRUCTURE

   • if + past simple, ...would + infinitive
     • IN NEGATIVE
       • We only change the order of the sentences: the sentence with would in negative would go first and then the sentence with if.
     • IN INTERROGATIVE
       • Here it would be done as follows: "Would he love me if he were my boss?

3. OTHER MODAL VERBS

   • COULD - MIGHT
     • If we want to replace the conditional with a modal verb it would only change in the fact that the probability would be even lower.
       • Si el verbo de la oración subordinada es el verbo "to be", utilizamos "were" en todos las personas.
     • EXAMPLES:
       • If I won a millionaire bingo, I would buy a lot of clothes.
       • If I were at Disney, I would travel to the most exciting places.
       • If it wasn't sunny, we might not swim in the sea.
       • If my friend lived nearby, I would ask her out.
       • If my dog could travel, he would travel everywhere with me.
       • If my mother would lose weight, she could be a model.
       • If I were very smart, I could help a lot of people.
       • If I studied more, I could pass every semester.
       • If I had a scholarship, I could study several careers.
       • If I had a boyfriend, I could make him very happy.
