Oxidation - Addition of oxygen
Reduction - Removal of oxygen
Redox - Reduction at the cathode and oxidation at the annode
Oxidising agent - Something that causes oxidation
Reducing agent - Something that causes a reduction
Rusting
An oxidation reaction
On the corrosion of IRON
Needs oxygen and water present
The iron gains oxygen and forms iron (III) oxide and then water bonds to it to form hydrated iron (III) oxide, rust.
Can be prevented by: Grease, oil, paint, plastic and galvonsing
