States of matter
  1. Demonstrate understanding of the terms atom and molecule and elements
    1. Atom- The smallest particles of matter that cannot be broken down further by the chemical reaction.
      1. Molecule- Group of atoms bonded together
      2. Periodic Table
        1. Groups- The vertical colums numberd 1-8. Elements in teh same group have the similar chemical properties.
          1. Periods- The horizontal rows numberd 1-7. Elements in teh same period have that sme number of outer shells.
            1. The zig-zag line seperates the metals from the non-metals.
            2. Stucture of atoms
              1. Atomic number- It is the number of protons in the nucleus
                1. Nucleon number- It is the mass number which is the numer of protons + nutrons
                2. Isotopes and radioactivity
                  1. Isotopes- atoms of the same element which have the same number of protons but different number of nutrons.
                    1. Use of radioisotopes.
                      1. Radiotherapy- to kill cancer by killing cancer cells.
                        1. Kill germs and bactaria to sterilise medical equipment, kill bactaria on fruits, vegetable and meat
