  1. Medical Data/Record
      1. Electronic Medical Records (EMR) They are known to store patient data in a computerized database, the database can be accessed by the medical staff treating the patients. Such stored information can be, medical history, conditions, vaccination records even test results. EMR systems help to make fill medical history problem more easily accessible to medical staff. They allow data to get accessed from hundreds of devices such as PDA’s. Doctors are also more easily able to update any medical information. Personal Health Records (PHR) This is different form EMR’s because the data is managed and provided by the patients themselves, not a healthcare provider or hospital. These records could be stored in the patients computer, or cloud based systems. This allows the patient to more easily provide information to a doctor about a treatment. A Smart Card is a potential way for a patient to have a portable health record, this way the patient is able to present results of a treatment upon vi
      2. Diagnostic Tools
            1. Diagnostic Tools - Remote Patient Monitoring - Diagnosis and continual monitoring Medical Expert Systems – AI might be better than doctors - Have been used to support medical decision making since the early 1970s - Specializes in one area of knowledge - Many modern ones can be integrated into electronic medical record systems, allows suggestions and warnings to be made by a computer - Has shown to improve the quality of care by medical staff and patient outcomes - Errors can have a serious, or fatal consequences, data integrity is important - Biological systems seem to be complex that they can be hard to understand - Interfaces also need to be clear and easy to understand
            2. Therapeutic Tools
              1. Robotic Surgery
                  1. E-prescriptions These systems are to automatically generate prescriptions and send them to the pharmacies that will then give it to the patient. This helps to reduce the use of paper work, and is convenient for the patient. More advanced than e-prescription link to medical expert systems, this can suggest alternative and cheaper drugs, as well as alert pharmacists of any complications that come with the use of the drug. e-prescriptions reduce prescription fraud and errors by confirming the prescriptions are coming from an actual doctor. Virtual Reality Therapy - Developed to improve the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other phobias - Works by recreating virtual copies of the places or events which cause the patients stress - Patients are exposed to virtual environment to over situations and fears - Has been use in the treatment of PTSD in Iraq war veterans, overcome situations from combat - Also used in the recreation of the London Underground, used to c
                  2. Tele-medicine
                    1. Telehealth and Telemedicine Telehealth is different from telemedicine because it refers to a broader scope of remote healthcare services than telemedicine. While telemedicine refers specifically to remote clinical services, telehealth can refer to remote non-clinical services, such as provider training, administrative meetings, and continuing medical education, in addition to clinical services. Telemedicine – personal one on one consultation - Medical consultation remotely (including delivery of baby) Problems: - Data sharing not secure - Can’t sue if something goes wrong Patient Monitoring - tracking patients remotely, health data monitored - Live Patient Monitoring
                    2. Personal Health
                        1. Personal Health Things you carry and do Things you do - Self-Diagnose - Internet provides access to more information - Don’t have to consult physician to have a basic idea of what might be wrong Environment - Have tech that will monitor environment and provide feedback Personal Tech - Diabetics: can monitor personal conditions Wearable Devices - Steps a day - Monitors and keep track of exercise - Functions into devices that are worn continually (phones) - Google glass: discontinued because of bad design/privacy violations
                        2. Users with Special Needs
                          1. Patients with special needs - Visually Impaired: Canes and glasses with sensors, can provide immediate feedback - Mechanical Exoskeleton - Prosthetics that can be controlled by mind and 3D printed and customized - Speech Impediment software that translates - Software that helps with learning difficulties like dyslexia
                          2. Tech Related Injuries
                            1. Tech Related Injuries Physical Injuries related to: • Thumb: joints can get strained from repeated use • Elbow, back and neck strain from being hunched over a computer for long periods of time • Seizures from watching certain TV shows with blinking lights of a particular frequency • Headaches from continual use • Eyestrain and possible vision issues from exposure to higher than normal blue light levels Mental Health Issues • Stress induced trauma *Tech related injuries might exacerbate health issues associated with age for future generations since they have had a longer exposure to tech.
